Q: What is the Compensation Analyzer app?
The Compensation Analyzer app is a fantastic way to analyze your job roles to ensure the wage you offer is competitive. This benchmarking tool will give you insight into salary trends across roles, industries, and geographies based on salary data reported to the department of labor.
Q: How do I access the Compensation Analyzer?
You can access Compensation Analyzer from the main JobTarget dashboard or in the "more apps" menu.
Q: How do I search for salary information?
Begin by searching a job title. Make sure your job title is free of jargon, and suggested job titles will begin to populate. Once you select a suggested job title, add in your location, then select a pay type, and click search.
Q: What are the suggested job titles based on?
The suggested job titles are categorized by standard occupational classification, or SOC. The SOC is a federal statistical standard used by US federal agencies & covers all occupations in which work is performed for pay or profit in the US.
Q: What information will I see after a successful search?
A successful search will generate suggested job titles related to the one that you've searched for. You'll see 3 blue boxes showing:
- The 25th percentile: The salary level below which 25% of salaries fall
- The 75th percentile: Where 75% of the reported salaries fall below this value
- The median: The middle salary value, which isn't affected by extremely high or low salaries like an average would be
Q: What does the bar graph show?
The bar graph below highlights the number of workers that report each salary, which is helpful to understand if your role's salary meets the market standard. The small text below the bar graph will give you an idea of how many salaries have been reported in your selected region.
Q: What does the line graph show?
The line graph at the bottom of the page will show you how the median salary for your role has changed over the years.
Q: When is the salary data updated?
The year prior will usually be updated in the Compensation Analyzer app mid-year, so we can expect year 2024 to populate in mid 2025.
