JT101: JobTarget Importer App

Frequently Asked Questions: JobTarget Importer App

Q: What is an importer and why use it?

An Importer is a tool that automatically pulls your job requisitions from your career page into the JobTarget platform. Importers typically run once per day—usually early in the morning—so your listings stay up to date without any manual effort. Instead of adding jobs one at a time, the importer brings them in bulk, saving you time and effort.

Q: How does the importer work?

Each time the importer runs, it will bring in any new jobs from your career page, as well as updating your existing jobs to reflect any changes you've made. Importers also allow you to set rules that apply small changes to jobs as they're brought in. For example, you might set a rule that adjusts the location for certain jobs—say, changing any listing with the location "West Campus" to include a full city, state, and ZIP code.

Q: Can importers be used with other JobTarget features?

Yes, importers can be used to facilitate an AutoPoster, a tool that automates the distribution of your jobs. For more information on these features and how you can utilize them, contact your relationship manager or visit our help center.

Q: How do I access the Job Importer app?

If you have an importer on your account, you can access the Job Importer app from the dashboard, or the navigation menu. In the Job Importer App, you'll see when your importer most recently ran, and the status of the current run.

Q: What are the possible run statuses?

The possible run statuses are:

  • Completed – The importer finished successfully, and new or updated jobs should now appear in JobTarget
  • Running – The importer is in progress. Check back shortly
  • Incomplete – The importer was interrupted and didn't finish properly
  • Failed – An error occurred that prevented the importer from running

More information about Importer Run Statuses can be found in the help center.

Q: How can I view my importer's run history?

Clicking 'View Importer' opens the run history, where you can see a breakdown of what happened each time the importer ran.

Q: What job update statuses will I see in the run history?

You'll see the number of jobs in each of the following categories:

  • Jobs Added – New requisitions brought into JobTarget for the first time
  • Jobs Edited – Existing jobs that were updated based on changes made in your career page
  • Jobs Removed – Requisitions that were taken down from your career page and subsequently removed from the JobTarget system
  • Jobs Unchanged – Requisitions that were already in JobTarget and remain unchanged
  • Jobs Skipped – Requisitions that were excluded due to a ruleset on your importer

Q: How can I see more details about a specific importer run?

To see more details about a specific importer run, you can click 'Details' in the Action column. This will open the Run Details page, where you'll find a list of all jobs affected during that run. For each job, you'll see information such as:

  • Requisition ID
  • Title
  • Company
  • Location
  • Division
  • Job status

You can filter this list by status, or search by Requisition ID to quickly find what you're looking for.
